Photo Diary From Brit + Co’s Re:make Creative Conference
This past week I was lucky enough to attend Brit + Co's Re:Make Summit with fellow blogger Kara Harms. Re:make was created with the mission to bring women together to collaborate and spark creativity. The summit includes inspirational speeches from top female industry leaders such as Nasty Gal's Sophia Amoruso and Top Model Tyra Banks. We also had the opportunity to attend guided art workshops including watercolor and sketching. I flexed my creative muscles with a watercolor geometric abstract and sketched a diamond in the rough. The best part of the summit (besides all the awesome swag!) was meeting and listening to fellow women who are driven by their creativity. Courage was a common theme of the conference because as any self-employed artisan will tell you, it takes courage to break conformity and follow your passion.
One thing you will notice in all these pics is an explosion of color! Brit + Co is not afraid of using bright and bold hues to adorn every nook and cranny of their events. Along with the colors and decor, there was a vibrant energy among the attendees. There were so many people to chat with, activities to join and of coursing a ton of crafting. Highlights of the day included a book signing with Sophia Amoruso, a catwalk competition with Tyra Banks and getting my hair braided into a crown at the Braid Bar (see our mini end of day photoshoot below).
Sophia Amoruso, Founder of Nasty Gal
Sophia Amoruso is the trailblazing entrepreneur behind Nasty Gal, a fashion retailer that began as a small eBay store selling vintage clothing and grew into a multi-million-dollar business. Born in 1984, Amoruso's journey to success was anything but conventional.
She started Nasty Gal in 2006 while working odd jobs and eventually turned her passion for unique, edgy fashion into a global brand known for empowering young women to embrace their individual style. Amoruso’s entrepreneurial spirit and candid approach to leadership were encapsulated in her best-selling memoir, #GIRLBOSS, which became a cultural phenomenon, inspiring countless women in business.
Despite the ups and downs of her career, including Nasty Gal’s bankruptcy in 2016, Amoruso’s influence remains significant, and she continues to inspire through her work as a speaker, author, and founder of Girlboss, a platform for ambitious women.

Gotta love all that swag!
Tyra Banks!
Tyra Banks is a groundbreaking supermodel, television personality, and entrepreneur, best known for her pioneering work in the fashion and entertainment industries. Rising to fame in the 1990s as one of the first Black supermodels to achieve international recognition, Tyra broke barriers as the first Black woman to grace the covers of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and GQ. Beyond modeling, she became a media powerhouse as the creator and host of America’s Next Top Model, a reality competition that ran for 24 seasons and transformed the modeling industry by showcasing diverse talent.
Braid Bar
As I mentioned earlier, one of my favorite parts of the conference was hanging with the stylists at the braid bar. I've been wanting a braid crown for many months now but felt too intimidated to try it myself. The summit took place at the Fort Mason docks giving us a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge on our way home. After a long day of fun and inspiration, watching a San Francisco sunset was the perfect end to a great day.
